Galatians 4:4-6 says, “But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.”
These verses have multiple interesting points of theology, but notice the following truths as they relate to Christmas worship:
- Christmas (the birth of Christ) was God-initiated at the right time.
- Christmas is about God buying us freedom from sin.
- Christmas is about God adopting us as His children.
- Christmas worship is our response to God – the Spirit within us calls out (or sings out) “Abba, Father.”
The overwhelming presence of the Holy Spirit within us actually prompts us to proclaim the glory of God and praise the wonderful, powerful name of Jesus! Join us this Sunday morning for a wonderful time of singing carols in Christmas worship and come back Sunday evening to hear our children and student choirs praise Emmanuel – God with us!
