Final Acknowledgements and Words ~ From the (Former) Pastor’s Desk 2-1-2019

Words are not adequate to express our loving appreciation for the outpouring of love that we have received, not just in the last few months, but especially last Sunday and Wednesday! Regardless, I will try. The special recognition from Senator Stanley and Mayor Dukes “blew us away!” The special gifts presented by David Howell (chairman of Deacons) and Wendell Kluge (chairman of Personnel Committee) on Sunday morning; the wonderful fellowship and tribute Sunday night; and the special gifts presented by John Cauffiel and Wendell Kluge (Personnel Committee), Donna Payn and the kitchen staff on Wednesday night were absolutely amazing!  We also appreciate the hard work of the Family Life Committee (Cindy Cauffiel, chairperson) and other volunteers. Finally, the heartfelt verbal expressions and meaningful cards/letters will be treasured forever.

In my attempt to give verbal acknowledgements on Sunday I committed one of the almost “unpardonable” mistakes of publicly-expressed appreciation – I overlooked my long-time personal assistant and dear friend, Janet Atterbury. She was an invaluable help, not just to me, but to other ministers and numerous lay leaders. I have been blessed in my pastoral ministry with several fine assistants, but none better than Janet. Please pray for her as she continues overseeing the front office and assisting an untold number of people.

Our ministry at FBC MWC has not only been our longest, it has been our most fulfilling; this primarily stems from the people the church has won to Christ, the numerous believers the church has grounded and discipled, and the special relationships that have been created and nurtured through the past 17+ years. Rest assured – our thoughts and prayers will be with you throughout the interim period and during the time when God’s man is discovered and called.

I close with verses from Philippians 1 than express my heart:

3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, 5 for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

As always, you are loved!
