Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Last Sunday morning, the Lord confirmed His call to Rev. Reece Watson to join the ministry team of FBC Midwest City as the Minister of Music! By a vote of 186-2, the congregation affirmed the recommendation of the Minister of Music Search Committee. Reece announced that he would begin his ministry on Sunday, August 13. Reece and Dana humbly, graciously, and excitedly accepted our invitation to serve. He now has the emotionally difficult task of informing the church family at FBC Siloam Springs, Arkansas (where he has served for 14 years) of God’s call to him and Dana to serve in Oklahoma. I know from personal experience how bitter-sweet it is to say goodbye to family and friends and accept a new ministry assignment in a different state.

Pray for them daily as they prepare to move to Oklahoma. Pray that God will provide a buyer for their home in Siloam Springs; pray for Dana as she fulfills remaining obligations as a counselor for Springdale schools; pray for God to provide temporary housing in the Midwest City area until such time that God provides permanent housing.

Rest assured that I, too, believed that God was calling Reece to serve with me and Bro. Jimmie. Good “chemistry” between a pastor and his minister of music is critical to ministerial leadership and ministry. While teaming with him last Sunday morning, it felt as if we had been serving together for years. I am thankful and excited that Reece and Dana are coming to FBC Midwest City!

I close with the same declarative statement with which I began this article – Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

This Sunday morning, a representative of the Mid-Del Gideon’s ministry will be making a brief presentation. I am so thankful for the ministry of The Gideon’s International, for the men in our church who are involved locally, and for the souls that have been saved through their witness and Bible distribution ministry. An opportunity to give an offering to the work of The Gideons will be promoted.

God continues to call out people from FBC MWC to serve in short-term missions. Raymond Melton will be joining Bro. Matt Hofeld and others to do evangelism and ministry in New York City next month.

A mission lunch will take place this Sunday after the morning service. The lunch is free, but all who attend will be encouraged to support him prayerfully and financially.

You are loved!
