Summer Lord’s Supper Observance
This Sunday night in the chapel at 6:00 p.m.
Hebrews 9:24-26 says, “For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; 25 not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another— 26 He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.”
- One Person on Earth – “For Christ…”
Only one Person was qualified to be the Savior of the world. Only one Person could have died a saving death. Only one Person has ever risen from the dead, never to die again. That one Person is Jesus!
- One Point in Time – “once…He has appeared”
Unlike the earthly high priests who entered the most holy place in the temple every year to offer up animal sacrifices for their own sins as well as for the sins of the people, the sinless Lord Jesus appeared ONE TIME at the RIGHT TIME to sacrificially offer Himself for the sins of the world
- One Purpose in Mind – “…to put away sin”
When a person repents and believes that Jesus died for him, God acquits him of all charges and delivers him from the eternal penalty of sin. He came for the purpose of putting away sin.
- One Payment for Sin – “once…He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself”
ONE PERSON offered Himself at ONE POINT in time with ONE PURPOSE in mind and that was to provide ONE PAYMENT for sin.
As we prepare our hearts and minds for the observance of the Lord’s Supper this Sunday evening, please keep in mind these very important truths from Hebrews 9.
