From the Pastor’s Desk 8/30/2018

Truett Cathy started his first restaurant in 1946 and he decided to close it on Sundays to give his employees time to attend church and be with their families. It’s still true today as the more than 2,100 Chick-fil-A fast-food restaurants are closed on Sunday.  Mr. Cathy believes in putting people and principles before profit; a principle each of us should adopt at work, whether we give orders or take them. The Apostle Paul had a word for employers and employees in Colossians 3:22-4:1. He said believers need to remember that they have a Master in heaven (4:1), and they are to work to please Him, not just to please the supervisor watching us (3:22-24). Mr. Cathy strives to remain true to biblical principles in his business. Larry Julian, author of God is My CEO, a book about him and other business leaders, writes: “God doesn’t promise a tangible return on investments, but He promises the fruits of the Spirit, love and peace and joy, on a personal level. Cathy is not only experiencing peace and joy and love in his life personally, but he’s also making a difference to his foster children, his own children and grandchildren, and his employees. He’s leaving a legacy on how you can do things the right way.” As Labor Day 2018 approaches, I encourage you to stop and give thanks to God for the job you have and for the good health that enables you to work.

CBA and the BGCO Evangelism office is hosting another Evangelism Tune-Up on Thursday evening, September 6, at Bryant Ave. Baptist Church located at 4748 S Bryant Ave in OKC.  It begins with a catered Swadley’s BBQ dinner at 5:45 p.m. and the training will be from 6:15 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

The training conference, materials, and meal is free and is made possible by the Edna McMillan State Missions Offering. Call the church office no later than Tuesday, September 4th to register. This would be a great opportunity to receive training at a location very close to MWC, especially if you were not able to attend the first training event at the CBA building on August 2nd.

I look forward to seeing you Sunday morning! You are loved!
