From the Pastor’s Desk 8/9/2018

I, like many of you, are greatly concerned over attendance trends of the last few years. However, several possible causes or factors that could be cited will not be the focus of this article. And the fact that many other churches are facing the same challenge is not very comforting. Some factors we cannot control; other facts we can. Several leaders in our church joined me and about thirty-five other Capital Association pastors and local church leaders attending a recent Evangelism Tune-Up training. Several interesting and practical ideas were shared related to the importance of preparing for “company” (guests) on Sunday morning; the training also emphasized what needs to be done to encourage guests to come and what needs to be done to keep them coming back again and again. I plan to meet soon with those who attended the training to not only debrief what we heard, but to also single out a few things that we need to implement immediately. Pray that the steps we take will bear “fruit,” and that we will begin the see the attendance trend begin to move upward.

The beginning of Mid-Del’s 2018-2019 school year is just around the corner. Other schools,  Christian schools, and home schools are also likely to begin in August. Pray for administrators, teachers, etc. Pray for adequate funding; and pray for students.

The 2018 C.O.M.E. Conference at FBC in Moore will be on August 18, from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  This is a fantastic training opportunity for Sunday School teachers, directors, outreach leaders that you should not miss. If you are teaching in a new age group or teaching for the first time, I especially want you to attend. The church covers the cost of lunch, so the conference is free for all who attend.  If you plan to attend, please call the church office. I hope to see you in Moore!

GriefShare classes resume on Tuesday evening, August 14, at 6:30 p.m. If you plan to attend, call the church office or see Mitzi Massie, GriefShare coordinator. You can also sign up at
