This week as I was listening to the Worship Arts Camp Children’s Choir sing songs about how Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, it struck me that our kids are growing up in a culture in which a majority of people would either say there is no such thing as God or there is more than one way to find Him. This means we are teaching and preaching a gospel that the world will refute and deny. Worldly culture will tell our kids and grandkids that we are wrong, ignorant, and narrow-minded; it will be hostile to a “one way to God” theology.
That makes Worship Arts Camp, Cross Timbers, VBS, Sunday School, Children’s Music Academy, RA’s & GA’s, and all of our children’s activities extremely important! It is during these weeks of camp and weekly ministry times when the Word of God comes alive to children. The Bible becomes more than stories, and God reveals himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
When a child has a personal encounter with Jesus, he/she knows first-hand the reality of God’s grace and forgiveness of sin. The good news of the gospel gives hope and new purpose in life as well as the promise of eternity in heaven. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Let’s do our best to love our kids, teach them the Word, and help the next generation be strong in the Lord and live for Jesus!
