As a child, did someone ever “double-dog dare” you to do something adventurous or difficult that you accomplished simply to prove you could? There is something about human nature that makes us face challenges, endure hardships, and somehow exceed our own expectations just to show others we can do it. Last week my grandson, who is just a second grader, moved up to a new Sunday School class, and his teacher challenged his whole class to memorize all of the books of the Bible during the next month. We’ll see if he meets the challenge, but I already know he will learn a lot making the effort.
This year my challenge for all children in grades 1-5 of our Children’s Music Academy is to memorize Psalm 100. In addition, the 3-5th graders will be challenged to learn to read music. This knowledge will help build a strong spiritual and musical foundation for our children. Please help us encourage children to participate in CMA! CMA is for children 4-years-old through grade 5. Students in grades 6-12 are invited to sing in the BASIC Student Choir. Our CMA Kickoff Party is Sunday, September 16th at 4:30 PM.
Psalm 100 (NIV)
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
