Missions and Outreach

Deacons Inreach/Outreach Ministries

In Christ alone is where we get our strength to endure physical and/or emotional pains or ailments. Our deacons have an outreach ministry of making hospital visits, nursing home visits, homebound visits, and contacting those grieving with the loss of loved ones.

James 5:14 ESV “is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the lord.”

Our deacons help the widows/widowers by their “need a hand” program. This program will assist when needing help with small jobs. In addition to our deacons ministry of a “handy man” for the widows/widowers, they remember and honor them by having an annual banquet.

James 1:27 NLT “pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”

Mark 16:15 NKJV “and He said to them, ‘go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” That means even Midwest City!

Meals on Wheels – Tuesdays 8:45 – 11 am

This much needed ministry partners with four other Midwest City churches to help Midwest City homebound residents by providing a noon meal Monday through Friday. Our church provides the meal on Tuesdays. There are cooks,
kitchen staff, and drivers to deliver the meals.

Intercessory Prayer – Open 24/7 (key needed from the church office to enter the Prayer Room)

Sometimes you may find it hard to find a place to be alone and quiet in your conversations with our Heavenly Father. Come to our special Prayer Room and pray for yourself, pray for others or pray for what God has laid on your heart. If you would like someone to be an intercessor on your behalf, you are most welcome to leave your prayer request on the form provided.

1 Thessalonians NKJ 5:16-18 “rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

James 5:16(b) NIV “…the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

GriefShare – (Spring & Fall Semesters)

If you have a loved one who has departed this life, this ministry can help you learn coping skills. The facilitators are trained and experienced and can offer valuable input in dealing with such a great loss. Come and listen or come and share, whichever is comfortable for you. Perhaps you need to be ministered to, or perhaps you feel you can help others.

Matthew 5:4 NIV “blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Healing Hearts Clinic – Thursdays 6 – 9 pm

The mission for this Midwest City clinic is to minister to the whole person: spiritual, mental and physical through Jesus Christ. This free clinic offers basic examinations and minor treatments. First Baptist rotates with other local churches to prepare and deliver a meal to feed the volunteers on clinic nights.

Psalm 30:2 ESV “oh lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.”

Food Pantry – Wednesdays 4:30 – 5:30 pm

Our church members donate food and time to help the Midwest City community by feeding those in need. Volunteers work at the church food pantry in various capacities. They not only stock and organize the distribution of the food pantry, they are honored to meet with everyone and help them understand Christ is our “food for life”.

Isaiah 58:10 NLT “feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.”
