Reece Watson – Minister of Music: My favorite definition of worship is this: Worship is an appropriate response to the greatness of God! At FBC Midwest City, we want everyone to share in the worship of our Lord Jesus Christ. In every song we sing, our focus is to connect with God in worship. He is worthy of our praise! In worship, we offer ourselves to God and use our voices to proclaim heart-felt adoration and praise of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
“Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
First Baptist is blessed to have an amazing group of talented members. Our choir, praise team, and instrumentalists lead worship every Sunday. Our children (CMA) and youth (BASIC) also lead in worship at special times throughout the year. Ensembles, soloists, and the handbell choir also use their many talents for the Lord in leading worship. We hope that you will join us in one of the various opportunities for service available in the music ministry. There is a spot waiting just for you.
Our adult worship choir sings every Sunday morning at 10:15 am. We rehearse and prepare for various special events throughout the year including Christmas, Easter, Patriotic Celebrations and more. We have open enrollment and would welcome you to come and visit with us. We rehearse every Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm in the Music Suite.
Ensemble Groups – Wednesday Rehearsal 6:16 – 7 pm
Praise Team directed by Reece Watson and Tapestry (women’s ensemble) directed by Penny Brown rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 6:15 pm. Praise Team or Tapestry – each will bless your heart through song.
Handbells – Sunday Rehearsal 4:30 – 5:30 pm (Seasonal)
Our Sanctuary Ringers (a selected adult handbell group) is capably directed by Pattie Arnold. They rehearse on Sunday afternoons. Hear the bells? They will make your heart sing as your hear the majestic choral of the bells.
CMA is planned and organized to help children learn about God and develop musical skills. They learn what it means to praise and worship Jesus. The children have opportunities to sing with their choir in worship services and seasonal programs. Children learn a variety of songs, age-appropriate musical skills, and Bible verses. CMA helps children build a spiritual and musical foundation for life.
We start in mid-September with a Kickoff Party and go through December with a Christmas Program; then we restart in February and continue through May with a Spring Program. We also have a talent show in March/ April.
BASIC is our youth drama and choir performance group for 6th – 12th graders. They learn through drama, singing, and technology how to present Christ to others and lead them in worship. We learn more about coming closer in our relationship with God through worship and praise.
We participate in the same programs as CMA with a Christmas Program in December and Spring Program in May and various performances in Sunday morning worship services. We kickoff and restart the same days with CMA. BASIC meets earlier so students can attend Life Study Classes with the youth group. Check us out on Facebook!
