Raise a Hallelujah ~ Reece’s Pieces 8-20-2021

Have you ever been up against a seemingly insurmountable obstacle or problem?  Perhaps it was an illness, a loss, a crisis of faith, one of life’s terrible storms, or even a period of doubt or unbelief?  This was the case for the parents of a little boy just a couple of years ago.  Their young son’s kidneys were failing due to an illness.  They asked for prayers from their church family.  In addition to praying, one couple on the worship team at their church felt impressed to write a song.  The theme of the song is very similar to themes in the Psalms – no matter the difficult situation or circumstance, continue to offer praise to the Lord!  They began singing their song and taught it to their church.  In time, praise God, the little boy was healed and made a full recovery.

“Raise a Hallelujah” has become one of the most popular worship songs in the last couple of years.  It is especially timely as we continue to battle the pandemic.  This Sunday our choir will sing it in worship.  Here is the first verse:

I raise a hallelujah in the presence of my enemies
I raise a hallelujah louder than the unbelief
I raise a hallelujah, my weapon is a melody
I raise a hallelujah, heaven comes to fight for me

I’m gonna sing in the middle of the storm
Louder and louder, you’re gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive
