I write a lot about worship. Why? What’s the big deal? Scripture tells us that the Father is seeking people who worship Him. That makes it a big deal!
“The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him.” -John 4:23
Intimacy with God is achieved through genuine worship. The Holy Spirit of God is manifest (obviously present) in Christ-centered worship. This focused response to God’s presence and His revelation is essential to the life of every growing follower of Christ.
Unfortunately, achieving and maintaining intimacy with God in worship is hard for us to sustain. We so easily get distracted and lose our focus. When we stop seeking Christ, we seek our will instead of God’s will. When this happens we tend to go through the motions of worship. We try to worship in our own power, sometimes even supplying our own emotions, without experiencing the manifest presence of God. This is not really worship at all.
What’s the answer? Pray, repent, surrender, and refocus. We must approach each worship service with a heart to see and experience the greatness of God as we exalt Christ. We must stand in awe of His power, His holiness, His glory, His grace, His love, His sacrifice, and His salvation. This is the kind of life-changing, transforming worship that God is seeking.
Choir is Back!
I’m excited to announce that our Majestic Voices Adult Choir is coming back fulltime next week! We will start having weekly choir rehearsals on Wednesday, April 14 at 7:00pm. We’ll be meeting in fellowship hall so we can spread out with proper social distancing. After a few weeks of rehearsals, the choir will be singing regularly in Sunday worship services once again. Please consider joining us. All singers, high school age and up, are invited to join.
